Going green is more than just a modern trend. It should become a habit, a lifestyle or a way of life. It may be difficult to start it as it forces us to make important changes in our activities, but you don’t have to do it at once. Begin by making little changes here and there, and soon you’ll find yourself having a satisfying desire to change even more. Everyone seems to have got their start on being eco-friendly — from individuals to companies. More and more businesses are using wind or solar energy to power their daily activities. Still some people don’t understand that our ways have a large impact on the environment — be it positive or negative. We have to change our lifestyle to be more eco-friendly. Less use of paper products means less trees to cut down. Switching from commercial to homemade and natural cleaning products reduces the use of harmful materials. In fact, the first step to changing bad habits is through accepting that you have them.

The snow leopard is one of the world’s most beautiful cats. Snow leopards are thinly spread across 12 countries in central and south Asia, from southern Russia down to Mongolia, China, and India. They are usually at home in mountain landscapes at heights of over 3,000 metres. But habitat loss, poaching, and climate change are now threatening their survival. The snow leopard has a spotted coat, thick enough to protect it from the cold. This animal’s wide, fur-covered feet help to distribute its weight over soft snow. Snow leopards are not social creatures. They are perfect hunters, able to kill animals for food up to three times their own weight. Snow leopards are top hunters in their environment, and they hunt for mountain sheep and goats. Without the snow leopard, the ecological balance would be destroyed. For example, populations of animals eating grass would increase, resulting in changes to the plants. It would also affect other wildlife living in these areas.

As the world’s population grows, so does the amount of rubbish that people generate. The large quantity of plastic products has resulted in increasing levels of plastic pollution in every part of the world. Plastic pollution occurs when plastic accumulates in an area and begins to negatively affect the natural environment. Plastic pollution creates problems for plants, wildlife, and even the human population. This often includes killing plant life and posing dangers to local animals. Certainly, plastic is an extremely useful material. In fact, it’s grown to become one of the most commonly used materials by man. But again, it is made from toxic compounds known to cause illnesses. So, when shopping, carry a paper or cloth bag. Also, avoid bringing plastic bags at home and buying items with too much packaging. This way, you can help to protect the environment by reducing plastic pollution, whose negative effects are obvious.

This museum complex is Russia’s main railway museum and is among the world’s largest railway museums. It opened on October 30, 2017. The museum complex is spread over a vast area. It has two buildings — an old building and an eye-catching modern building. The buildings are connected with a bridge to make a single structure. Museum tours include visiting a collection of rare and legendary steam trains, locomotives, electric locomotives, railcars and other rolling stock. Historical artifacts rub shoulders with current operating models, interactive machines and temporary exhibition halls, building an unusual and engaging museum space. The museum provides a perfect ground for modern-day educational programmes, children’s activities, lectures and theme-based video screening. So, this museum can become a venue where adults and children alike will gain a lot of knowledge about the history of railways and rail transport, railway jobs, modern and outdated technologies, and, at the same time, it can become an inviting amusement park and a favourite attraction for the whole family.

Filimonovo toys are a type of Russian pottery craft produced in Odoevsky District of Tula region, Russia. The toy gets its name from the village of its origin, Filimonovo, and is made by hand from the local clay that fires into a pure white ceramic. The artists paint the figures with special dyes with motifs of brightly coloured stripes and spots. Filimonovo toys are often clay whistles in the forms of women, horsemen, and different animals such as bears, cattle, and roosters. Clay toys, especially clay whistles, were very popular in Russia. Scientists believe that initially such whistles were made for protection from evil spirits. Each region of the clay toy industry has its own manner of shaping and painting. It is easy to understand because in different regions, the clay differs in colour and texture. For example, blue clay in Filimonovo cracks during work. The craftsmen smooth these cracks with damp fingers, and that is why even the usual cows and horses have a thin long body and neck.

The Ural Mountains of Russia form the traditional boundary between Europe and Asia. The Urals are about 2,500 kilometres long. They extend from the Kara Sea in the north to the Ural River in the south. The highest peak is Mount Narodnaya at 1,895 metres. The northern slopes of the Urals are mostly covered with forests. Common trees include oak, linden, elm, fir and pine. Treeless land called tundra is found in the far north, especially at high elevations. Arctic foxes, reindeer, brown bears, lynx and elk are among the animals of the range. A couple of centuries ago, the fauna was richer than it is today. Farming, hunting, and deforestation destroyed the habitats of many animals. Wild horses have disappeared. Herds of deer have migrated deep into the tundra. At the same time, hamsters and field mice have spread in the land now used for farming.

When it comes to deep-breathing exercises for kids, the key is to make these exercises fun and easy to remember. The following breathing exercises use imagery that appeals to children, and language they will have no trouble understanding. The first one is called “Blow out the candles”. Have a child blow out the candles on a make-believe birthday cake, drawing a deep breath in through the mouth, and blowing it out strongly through the mouth as well. Another effective exercise is snake breath. Tell a child to pretend he or she is a snake and hiss, inhaling deeply through the nose, and blowing out through the mouth with a soft and low hissing sound. Finally, you can try hot-air balloon breath. Have a child sit comfortably and cup their hands around their mouth. Have them inhale deeply, and on the exhale, prompt them to expand their hands outward, as if they are blowing up a giant hot-air balloon.

Australia is the only country in the world that covers an entire continent. It is one of the largest countries on Earth. Although it is rich in natural resources and has a lot of fertile land, more than one-third of Australia is desert. Most Australian cities and farms are located in the southwest and southeast, where the climate is more comfortable. There are dense tropical rainforests in the northeast. They are the richest in plant and animal species. Subtropical rainforests are found near the mid-eastern coast. The famous outback contains the country’s largest deserts, where there are high temperatures, little water, and almost no vegetation. Running around the eastern and southeastern edges of Australia is the Great Dividing Range. This 3,700-kilometre stretch of mountains sends water down into the most important rivers of Australia.

The fashion industry is considered to be one of the fastest-growing industries today, yet it has faced some significant challenges throughout its history. It’s not a secret that fashion industry takes its negative toll on the environment. Clothes production cannot cope with limited water consumption, and its carbon footprint increases daily. People buy tons of cheap garments which end up in landfills in less than a month. The situation might get worse if consumers don’t change their habits in the coming years. There are some healthy fashion trends that may help to make fashion sustainable. Consumers are choosing brands that do not hurt animals and the planet in the process. The younger generation chooses second-hand shopping giving clothes another life. And brands promote recycling to save on raw materials and natural resources.

Mars is our neighbour, the fourth planet outward from the Sun. Its rusty-red surface has earned Mars the nickname “The Red Planet”. Mars is a little smaller than Earth, with a day that’s very similar in length to ours. It is just a bit longer, at 24 hours and 37 minutes. However, a year on Mars is much longer, lasting for almost two Earth years, or 687 Earth days. At around half the size of Earth, Mars is a rocky world with a thin atmosphere. This means the days are very hot, but the nights are freezing cold. Exploration missions have found evidence of ancient water on Mars, in the form of dried-up riverbeds and vast canyons. This suggests that Mars may have once been a much wetter and warmer place. Today, rovers like the Curiosity rover, search for signs of past or even present life on Mars, making it a key target in our quest to understand if we are alone in the universe.
